We enjoyed Creekside Supper Club this evening for a birthday/Halloween celebration and it did not disappoint! The decorations were so much fun! The holiday drinks were strong and yummy! Our waiter Noah had impeccable customer service. A throwback to the old mid-west supper clubs, the details like a relish tray, popovers as big as your head, delicious food were awesome and vibes were perfect! This is a canβt miss place! Looking forward to the Christmas holiday decorations!
Overview
Walking into The Creekside Supper Club feels like stepping into a Minneapolis tradition that knows exactly who it is and doesnβt try to be anything else. Sitting comfortably at 4820 Chicago Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55417, United States, this neighborhood diner-style supper club blends old-school charm with a modern sense of care for food, service, and community. Iβve eaten here on slow weekday evenings and busy weekend nights, and the experience stays consistently warm, relaxed, and satisfying.
The first thing that stands out is how the space encourages conversation. Tables are close enough to feel lively but not crowded, and the bar area hums with regulars who clearly treat this place as an extension of their living room. According to data from the National Restaurant Association, diners are more likely to return to restaurants where atmosphere and service feel personal, and Creekside nails that balance without trying too hard. Youβre greeted quickly, seated efficiently, and never rushed, which matters more than most people realize.
The menu leans classic Midwest supper club with thoughtful updates. Think comfort food done right, not reinvented for shock value. One server once explained how the kitchen keeps prep simple but precise: sauces are made in small batches, proteins are cooked to order, and seasonal ingredients rotate subtly instead of forcing drastic menu changes. That approach mirrors recommendations from culinary educators at the James Beard Foundation, who emphasize consistency and ingredient respect over trend chasing. You taste that philosophy in dishes like their burgers, perfectly crisp fries, and hearty entrees that feel familiar yet polished.
During one visit, I asked about sourcing, and the manager casually mentioned working with regional suppliers when possible. While not every ingredient is local, the effort reflects a broader industry shift supported by USDA research showing that diners increasingly value transparency and responsible sourcing. Creekside doesnβt advertise this loudly, but it shows in freshness and flavor. Portions are generous without being excessive, which longtime diner reviews often praise as good value rather than gimmick pricing.
The bar program deserves its own moment. Classic cocktails dominate, built with proper ratios and no unnecessary flair. Old Fashioneds arrive balanced, not syrupy, and the beer list highlights familiar regional options alongside a few rotating taps. This isnβt a craft cocktail lab, and thatβs exactly the point. The bartenders know the recipes, know their customers, and keep things moving smoothly even during peak hours.
Reviews across Minneapolis consistently highlight reliability, which is harder to achieve than novelty. One regular I chatted with has been coming for over a decade and said the biggest compliment he can give is that nothing has ever gone downhill. In restaurant operations, maintaining standards over time is often cited by hospitality experts as the toughest challenge, especially for independent spots. Creekside manages it by keeping systems simple and staff well-trained, even if that means slower expansion or limited locations.
That said, there are small limitations worth noting. Parking along Chicago Avenue can be tight during dinner rush, and on especially busy nights, wait times can stretch longer than expected. The staff is usually upfront about this, which builds trust rather than frustration. Transparency, according to consumer trust studies published by Cornellβs School of Hotel Administration, directly impacts repeat visits, and Creekside handles expectations honestly.
Whether youβre scanning the menu for a comforting dinner, reading reviews before choosing a spot, or just looking for a reliable neighborhood restaurant that understands what a supper club should be, this place delivers without overpromising. The experience feels earned, built on years of steady execution rather than hype, and thatβs something both locals and visitors tend to appreciate the longer they spend at the table.

Wow. First, I was not expecting the over the top Christmas decor. It was amazing and if that were the only positive it would be worth it. This is a typical Wisconsin style supper club. Fish Fry? Yes Old Fashions? Yes. Prime Rib on weekends? The food was really good as were the cocktails. Service was spectacular. This place makes you feel right at home. Recommend that you make reservations!
I had a great time eating dinner here during their Halloween pop up! Came in on Wednesday around 530pm and grabbed a spot at the bar. Service was superb, such friendly and warm people and food came out quickly! We had the relish tray, cod fish fry and popovers, all of which was delicious.
Had a great experience here. Staff and services was great. The atmosphere and the decor at the time was Halloween themed and was great and fun. My burger was juicy and good. The drinks was good as well. Will need to come back to check during the holiday and check out more of the food.
What a pleasure to be at this supper club. We loved it all⦠atmosphere, drinks, food and service. We go out to eat a lot and it is hard to find an evening where everything from beginning to end to be great. We found that here. Rick - MOD was working the room making sure experience was great. We will be back soon. We have already planned to be back for the Christmas decorations after seeing the Halloween ones.
Stopped in for some supper, had the prime rib which was perfectly cooked. The old fashioned was strong, and the staff was all dressed up in their finest holiday cheer! Great place to spend a cold fall evening before the holiday season.
Brought a Christmas-loving friend visiting from out of town and the Creekside did not disappoint. What a fun way to introduce him to Wisconsin Supper Clubs without having to drive an hour! The Christmas decorations were so over the top, it was incredible and fun and kitschy. Loved it! The food was decent, nothing special. Service was good, the waiter spent too much time explaining what is an otherwise basic menu, and was a bit pushy in trying to get us to order from the 'mains' as opposed to a burger or sandwich. But he was nice, friendly, and efficient. The burgers we had were decent, supposedly Wagyu beef but honestly you couldn't tell. They are thin, the waiter described them as smash burgers, so you can't order them a certain way. They weren't juicy, or charred. It was almost like they were 1/4lbs McDs burgers with little flavor beyond the toppings. Fries were great, thin and crispy. All in all, I'd go back. It's a fun place to go for dinner a couple times a year. I wouldn't call it Fine dining, but it's a fairly authentic representation of a WI Supper Club. Tip: Make reservations, especially during the holidays, or be ready for a wait!
A Minneapolis must! Iβve been wanting to go here forever and finally made it. It was so worth it! Server was wonderful and very knowledgeable of gluten free options. The shrimp cocktail with Bloody Mary cocktail sauce was incredible. I had a salad with chicken and it was perfectly dressed and fresh with perfectly seasoned chicken. Everyone enjoyed their food. I canβt wait to go back!
